"Outstanding . . . Mills is writing at the top of his game in this nail-biter.", Publishers Weekly (starred review)"Kyle Mills continues his impressive run of must-read thrillers with RED WAR, a timely, explosive novel that shows yet again why Mitch Rapp is the best hero the thriller genre has to offer. . . and why Mills is the only writer capable of filling the enormous void left by Vince Flynn.", The Real Book Spy"Events lead to a dramatic, you-got-your-money's-worth conclusion. Good, escapist fun.", Kirkus Reviews"All action from start to finish . . . a page-turner all the way up to the climatic finale that you just can’t put down.", Red Carpet Crash"In the world of black-ops thrillers, Mitch Rapp remains the gold standard. Mills has embraced the high-concept-thriller style and continues to exceed expectations.", Booklist (starred review)"The characters drive the story and Mitch Rapp continues to be a mainstay of the modern techno-thriller.", New York Journal of Books #1 New York Times bestselling author Vince Flynn (1966–2013) created one of contemporary fiction’s most popular heroes: CIA counterterrorist agent Mitch Rapp, featured in thirteen of Flynn’s acclaimed political thrillers. All of his novels are New York Times bestsellers, including his stand-alone debut novel, Term Limits. The Mitch Rapp story begins with American Assassin, followed by Kill Shot, Transfer of Power, The Third Option, Separation of Power, Executive Power, Memorial Day, Consent to Kill, Act of Treason, Protect and Defend, Extreme Measures, Pursuit of Honor, The Last Man, The Survivor, Order to Kill, Enemy of the State, and Red War. American Assassin was released as a major film in 2017.Kyle Mills is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of nineteen political thrillers, including Red War for Vince Flynn and The Patriot Attack for Robert Ludlum. He initially found inspiration from his father, the former director of Interpol, and still draws on his contacts in the intelligence community to give his books such realism. Avid outdoor athletes, he and his wife have lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for over twenty years. Visit his website at KyleMills.com.

This instant #1 New York Times bestseller and “modern techno-thriller” (New York Journal of Books) follows Mitch Rapp in a race to prevent Russia’s gravely ill leader from starting a full-scale war with NATO.

When Russian president Maxim Krupin discovers that he has inoperable brain cancer, he’s determined to cling to power. His first task is to kill or imprison any of his countrymen who can threaten him. Soon, though, his illness becomes serious enough to require a more dramatic diversion—war with the West.

Upon learning of Krupin’s condition, CIA director Irene Kennedy understands that the US is facing an opponent who has nothing to lose. The only way to avoid a confrontation that could leave millions dead is to send Mitch Rapp to Russia under impossibly dangerous orders. With the Kremlin’s entire security apparatus hunting him, he must find and kill a man many have deemed the most powerful in the world.

Success means averting a war that could consume all of Europe. But if his mission is discovered, Rapp will plunge Russia and America into a conflict that neither will survive in “a timely, explosive novel that shows yet again why Mitch Rapp is the best hero the thriller genre has to offer” (The Real Book Spy).

Not a Mitch Rapp Novel First and foremost, this isn't a Mitch Rapp novel. It is a Russian bad guy novel that has Mitch Rapp as a minor character. There is none of the classic Rapp personality, no Rapp character development, almost none of the classic dialog with Irene and Mitch. One example of the Rapp persona being way off is in his conversation with his girlfriend's daughter. Mitch sees her walking home, she mentions working on a horse stall, and in Mitch's inner dialog he says "she'd been wearing him down on this horse crap since she moved in." No shot classic Rapp has that inner dialog when thinking about a child. Complete swing and miss there. The plot line seems like a pretty poor copy of Spymaster by Brad Thor. The Mills books in the Rapp series have seemed to be very uneven in an alternating pattern. I thought the first one was pretty good, the second really bad, the third installment was pretty good, and this one just totally missed the mark in my opinion.Rapp rides again! Vince Flynn was a friend of mine, at the news of his death, I thought Mitch Rapp had died with him. Whenever I would picture Mitch Rapp in my minds eye, I saw Vince. Then in came Kyle Mills to take up the banner of the Rapp franchise. With out a doubt this is my favorite of all Kyle’s books although I have enjoyed all of them. Taken right from today’s headlines, Kyle shows the same uncanny cache of inside information Vince was famous for. A great read for the long Minnesota winter ahead! Thanks Kyle Mills for Giving Life to Mitch Rapp Kyle Mills has done a great job in carrying on the cast of characters created by Vince Flynn. He has captured the personalities and essence of each character. Mitch Rapp has become one of my all time favorite characters. I am grateful to Kyle for allowing Mitch to survive and prosper in the wake of Vince’s tragic passing. This book is fast paced and action packed. I loved it , as I do all of the books in this series. It seems to me that there should be a blockbuster movie series here. I haven’t seen American Assassin yet but reviews are not encouraging. The right actors could turn this into a series that is reminiscent of the James Bond series. Well done, Kyle! I look forward to the next in the series.

Info about keto diet great - recipes not so much The information in the first section was great, but the recipes were not as helpful as I had hoped. The ingredients are very expensive - I spent $130 shopping for just the first three days of meals and that didn't include the leg of lamb, which I skipped. Also, as a working mom, I would consider the amount of kitchen time as extreme. As an example, Day One includes a one-hour baking project for breakfast, followed by deviled eggs with bacon and avocado as a mid-morning snack, followed by a cooked chicken lunch, then a smoothie mid-afternoon snack, and a leg of lamb dinner with a side. Again, that's just the first day. Section 1 was great and I learned a great deal about keto lifestyle and issues. I would love the author to revise the meal plan and recipe sections to limit each day to no more than 90 minutes in the kitchen including prepping foods like boiling eggs, frying bacon, or cooking chicken which aren't currently included in her recipes times.Great book for beginners When I decided to start ketogenics I bought a general book plus three cookbooks. This book was the smallest of the three cookbooks but easily the most useful.Ramos includes basic ketogenics information at the front of the book and tips for eating away from home at the end. In between is a lot of helpful information. The book contains a two week menu for beginners. (Face it, there's a 90% chance you won't follow it to the letter, but it does help set your thinking in the right direction.) For each individual week there's a shopping list which, by itself, will help you adjust your kitchen quite a bit. There are tips on the best sweeteners (Swerve over Splenda), the oils you'll need, produce, canned and bottled items, pantry items, and meats. Something to consider as you go along is that some items, like almond and coconut flour are expensive items to stock up on, but you'll use considerably less than non-keto recipes will use for regular flour. Do what you can afford. Just know that there are some must-have staples like coconut oil and olive oil.The recipes themselves are divided into smoothies and breakfasts, appetizers and snacks, fish and poultry, meats, veggies and sides, desserts, and staples. Each individual recipe gives an overall "keto quotient" (how close it fits the idea balance of fats, carbs, and protein) as well as what each serving contains in calories and the fats, carbs, and protein for those servings. This makes life a lot easier if you are using a phone or tablet app to keep an eating record.I find myself in the kitchen a lot more, but that's a good thing, especially since I'm gaining more energy and endurance from the diet. Since I live alone I've also invested in more plastic bags and containers. When I use one of the recipes I divide the finished product into the number of servings, eat one and bag the rest for the freezer or fridge.Recipes include items like homemade salad dressings and mayonnaise in a good keto balance. Since I'm eating a lot more salad this has been handy to have. I also thought I would miss sweets but I've been using the book to make snacks with stevia products. There are some chocolate recipes using cocoa powder and oils that help stifle any chocolate cravings. The oils often melt at a little above room temperature so I put chocolate pieces in bags in the freezer and granola in the fridge in snack bags.I have yet to find a recipe that didn't turn out well, though my tastebuds like a little more salt. Better to add it in later because you can't take it out once it's cooked. The only bad turnout I had was my mistake, assuming that coconut flour would substitute for almond flour. It won't.There's a wide variety of tastes to help you learn your way through adapting the lifestyle to your tastes. This book is great for beginners This book is great for beginners! We have tried several recipes and they are great. nothing crazy to buy. Highly recommend!

Title: From Scratch Pdf A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home

A poignant and transporting cross-cultural love story set against the lush backdrop of the Sicilian countryside, where one woman discovers the healing powers of food, family, and unexpected grace in her darkest hour.

It was love at first sight when Tembi met professional chef Saro on a street in Florence. There was just one problem: Saro's traditional Sicilian family did not approve of him marrying a black American woman, an actress no less. However, the couple, heartbroken but undeterred, forges on. They build a happy life in Los Angeles, with fulfilling careers, deep friendships, and the love of their lives: a baby girl they adopt at birth. Eventually, they reconcile with Saro's family just as he faces a formidable cancer that will consume all their dreams.

From Scratch chronicles three summers Tembi spends in Sicily with her daughter, Zoela, as she begins to piece together a life without her husband in his tiny hometown hamlet of farmers. Where once Tembi was estranged from Saro's family and his origins, now she finds solace and nourishment - literally and spiritually - at her mother-in-law's table. In the Sicilian countryside, she discovers the healing gifts of simple fresh food, the embrace of a close-knit community, and timeless traditions and wisdom that light a path forward. All along the way, she reflects on her and Saro's incredible romance - an indelible love story.

In Sicily, it is said that every story begins with a marriage or a death - in Tembi Locke's case, it is both. Her story is about loss, but it's really about love found. Her story is about travel, but it's really about finding a home. It is about food, but it's really about chasing flavor as an act of remembrance. From Scratch is for anyone who has dared to reach for big love, fought for what mattered most, and needed a powerful reminder that life is...delicious.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Do not recommend I’m not sure how everyone is leaving such great reviews. To read this book was a piece of work. Pages and pages of the same stuff. I can see that this is a great memoir for the author, like her dairy, something her daughter can read later... but not a book. I was bored, sooo bored. And yes- I felt so bad for her to lose the love of her life! I did. But this review is strictly about the book. The last 40 pages I made myself read but I was still skimming. It was about nothing. Every day described with the details. That’s it. I think this could have been a better book if the author hadn’t given everything away in the first pages. Maybe if she had started with her younger years, meeting Saro, then their life, then coming to his death, and then her grieving. But no- the reader knows everything from the beginning and there’s nothing to grab your attention and keep you reading.Good story. Poor writing. The substance of the story is intriguing and the characters are endearing. The writing is almost unbearable. The metaphors are a stretch, especially all of the food comparisons. The transitions are obtuse. There’s A LOT of fluff. Nothing like the literature Reese usually picks for her book club. Just so you are warned.

Title: Rapture in Death Pdf
Author: J. D. Robb
Published Date: 1996
Page: 310

The year is 2056. mood-altering drugs are legal, prostitution is licensed, virtual-reality games have replaced TV sets for entertainment and New York supercop Eve Dallas continues her sleuthing in Robb's fourth installment in the Death series (Naked in Death, Glory in Death, etc.). This time around, Eve has married her soul mate, Roarke, and is caught up in the puzzling suicide of a technician who's been working on Roarke's unfinished space resort. The young tech, Eve learns, had cheerfully hanged himself after a VR trip. Back on Earth, autopsies from two similar suicides reveal a pin-sized burn on the brains of the victims. All clues point to a deadly subliminal message in a VR toy?one that Roarke produces. This is sexy, gritty, richly imagined suspense. The fact that it is written by Nora Roberts under the pseudonym J.D. Robb is a tribute to her versatility. Copyright 1996 Reed Business Information, Inc. “Sexy, gritty, richly imagined suspense.”—Publishers WeeklyMore Praise for the In Death series   “Robb is a virtuoso.”—Seattle Post-Intelligencer   “It’s Law & Order: SVU—in the future.”—Entertainment Weekly   “J. D. Robb’s In Death novels are can’t-miss pleasures.”—#1 New York Times bestselling author Harlan Coben   “Anchored by terrific characters, sudden twists that spin the whole narrative on a dime, and a thrills-to-chills ration that will raise the neck hairs of even the most jaded reader, the J. D. Robb books are the epitome of great popular fiction.”—New York Times bestselling author Dennis Lehane

Lieutenant Eve Dallas delves into the world of virtual reality gaming to stop a sadistic killer in this In Death novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author J. D. Robb.

They died with smiles on their faces. Three apparent suicides: a brilliant engineer, an infamous lawyer, and a controversial politician. Three strangers with nothing in common—and no obvious reasons for killing themselves. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas finds the deaths suspicious. And her instincts pay off when autopsies reveal small burns on the brains of the victims.

Was it a genetic abnormality or a high-tech method of murder? Eve’s investigation turns to the provocative world of virtual reality games—where the same techniques used to create joy and desire can also prompt the mind to become the weapon of its own destruction...

Rapture In Death **This review has a small spoiler for first time reader's **Rapture In Death was overall an installment of the series which I liked enough to have read more than once.**Small spoiler for first time readers. **I was disappointed to find that J.D. Robb lead readers through the wedding prep in book three but, four is fast forward to the honeymoon.**End spoiler. **Maybe because of the honeymoon start the pace of the book is slower than others and, some scenes seemed prolonged for reasons not certain to this reader. This took a little time to become accustomed to this shift.Overall the story itself is well done and, in my view a little creepy. When a unusual death interupted said honeymoon. Anything that doesn't add up for Eve she doesn't easily dismiss. When another unusual death occurs when Eve returns to work ; only Eve sees a connection between the two. Is it the murder she see's or coincidence that people are choosing suicide when self-termination is a legal choice? The ending to this one was one I didn't see coming at all. I would recommend this book to others who like mystery /suspense /romance.One of my favorite In Death Books Rating RGenre: Police ProceduralSub Genre FuturisticSub Genre Romance of established married charactersTriggers: RapeViolence MurderLanguage AdultSexuality M/FPlot centers around mysterious suicides where everyone of the people are overjoyed to end their own lives. This is the forth In Death book centering around Eve Dallas NYPSD Homicide Lieutenant. The book starts with both Eve and Roarke on their honeymoon. The sex and romance between the two always sizzle, and this is because the characters that Robb write have passion. Passion is the corner stone of these books not just passion of a sexual nature, but passion to find the perpetrators of the crimes. The character of Eve is like a very tight flower blossom that has never opened for anything but her job. The blossom that is Eve opened for one thing, her job, being a great cop. Then would close up tight again, she was standoffish even to the two people closest to her, her former partner Feeney and Mavis. Eve, since meeting her now husband Roarke, is learning to be a full bloom of a flower not closing up when not on the job, not being standoffish with people. The character Roarke won't accept anything less and because of this Eve blooms. In this book Peabody, Officer Delilah, is attached full time the Dallas. Which opens Eve up further.Mavis again in given a lot of book time and I personally adore her. I adore all the characters in this book. Also Dr. Mira is given more book time too.The book's plot centers around mind control and it is a very wickedly good read.About the forth book in this never ending series and it holds up as well at past and future novels. Great story tell Robb, she. I’ve not read all the books in this series yet but am getting pretty close. Having read the reviews written on most of the books in this series by J.D. Robb, aka Nora Roberts, it becomes quite clear quite quickly that people either love or hate these books. And when you think about it that is the way it should be. What a boring reading life we would all have it all of our tastes were the same...ugh!Now I am on of those that are a big fan of these books where are futuristic (just a bit) detective/police procedural books with a touch of romance thrown in from time to time. This work is not all that different from other J.S. Robb offerings. This one deals with mind control via music/computer games. It is not as grizzly as other books in the series but murder there is never-the less. People are forced to do things such as leaping off of tall buildings or hanging themselves or – in the case of Eve and Roarke, somewhat change their sexual encounters – an not all for the good.Even though this is only about the third or fourth book in this series we have all my favorite characters playing their usual role; Eve, Peabody, McNab, Roarke Mavis, Leonardo and yes, one of my favorites, Galahad, and a host of others readers who follow these stories will be quite familiar with. There is of course some new characters introduced cause hey; you have to have a bad guy or girls – right? The book begins with Eve and Roarke returning form the honeymoon where on their return visit at a space station they encounter the first victim – an apparent suicide. While this story does not move as fast as some of the others I have read in this series it is never-the-less still a stellar read and one that I more or less read non-stop from cover to cover – Being retired I can do stuff like that because the dogs in my lap could care less if I am sleeping or reading or just staring into space.

The Tipping Point Pdf

ISBN: 0316346624
Title: The Tipping Point Pdf How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference

Malcolm Gladwell is also the author of the #1 bestselling Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking. He was a reporter for the Washington Post from 1987 to 1996, working first as a science writer and then as New York City bureau chief. Since 1996, he has been a staff writer for The New Yorker.

The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate. This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.

quick dip into social science research Some may say “The Tipping Point” belabors the obvious, which is that things change, sometimes overnight. True, too true, but so what? Malcolm Gladwell, the master of popularized social research, makes us care about the mechanisms of seemingly abrupt shifts in the course of human events—such as why William Dawes’ midnight ride to warn that the British were coming didn’t start the American Revolution, but Paul Revere’s did. Turns out Revere’s personality helped his news galvanize patriots to pick up their rifles, while Dawes’ identical cry made people turn over and go back to sleep. Revere had two of the three traits Gladwell identifies as necessary to the spread of social trends: he was a Connector and a Maven. Revere had a vast rolodex of acquaintances in colonial Massachusetts and he knew everything there was to know about the nascent independence movement. He set the scene for resistance to the onmarching British, and a few local men of Gladwell’s third type, the Persuaders, finished the job of rallying the militias of Concord and Lexington. Gladwell is adept at explaining the academic research that led to such popular ideas as “six degrees of separation” and relating such social science experimentation to his overall theme of how change happens. He goes deeply into the discoveries about learning that led to the success of “Sesame Street” and “Blue’s Clues”—these shows’ producers used the idea of “stickiness” to instill basic principles and values in pre-schoolers. The “broken windows” theory of policing gets a thorough explainer, including a side trip into how do-gooding seminarians can allow themselves to avoid being good Samaritans. Advertising is one of the great accelerators of trends, and Gladwell marshals a few Madison Ave. case studies to show how commercials tip us into parting with our hard-earned cash. Absolutely painless learning is what Gladwell offers, with a side benefit of greater self-awareness.Pop Science and Psychology Gone Awry I read "blink" and "The Tipping Point" together over the span of a week. Both books were very interesting and touched on similar insights into human behavior and psychology. "The Tipping Point" was similar in style to "blink" in that it presented a small handful of themes over and over to prove the premise the author initially laid out at the beginning of the book. Which is, of course, very convenient for the author. Gladwell essentially has a theory for why cool fads and trends catch on, and in writing this book he appears to have scoured a mixed bag of scientific and non-scientific psychological studies and historical observations to support his theory. The problem with this method is that its not the best way to prove the validity of a theory. One of the most excruciating passages in the book is when Gladwell tries to argue that former ABC news anchor Peter Jennings successfully swayed voters with his facial expressions in the early 1980's. A study apparently suggested that Jennings made favorable facial expressions while introducing stories about Regan but had a neutral face when introducing stories about Walter Mondale, and this caused viewers to change their voting habits. The author seriously tries to make his case solely on the fact that post-election ABC viewers were more likely to say that they voted for Regan than Mondale. It never even occurs to the author (even for a fleeting moment) that maybe ABC news viewers were/are more conservative as a group and thus predisposed to vote for a conservative candidate anyway. The sentence "Because serial killers drink milk, milk drinking must cause people to become serial killers" is a classic example of a Gladwell "proof."Taken as a whole, this book is a bit scary because its a likable best seller, but its unfortunately a sort of misguided Fox News or USA Today version of what could be a very interesting discussion. I hope more books will be written in this area, because it truly is a realm that needs more analysis. How things were before the Internet became the major factor As Usual, Malcolm Gladwell is a great story teller. The book is about the small things that can make huge changes. The book is interesting and fun to read, but there are two big problems:a) Malcolm Gladwell is not a scientist, and he lacks the skepticism which is so mauch an important part of science. He starts with the story of the crime fall in NY that came shortly after the start of the "broken windows" policy. The "fact" that the "broken windows"policy made such a huge change serves him well for his arguments, but there is a problem here. the claim that the "broken windows" policy was the main factor in reducing the crime at that time in NY, is an assumption, and by now we have strong reasons to believe that it played only a mior role in the crime reduction. Other factors such as reduction of lead in fuel have much stronger correlation with the crime reduction, and in many other places, as well, while efforts to replicate the "broken windows" policy elsewhere did not produce the same results. So his first chapter is about a nice but false story that if it was true, was showing an interesting nature of how vast changes in behavior happen. The second problem, is that the book was written before that Internet became a major player in the field. By now it is problably the most major player, but the book describes how things were before the Internet became a major player. In this sense, the book describes how things were in another era. Things have completely changed since then.
