All of his novels are New York Times bestsellers, including his stand-alone debut novel, Term Limits. The Mitch Rapp story begins with American Assassin, followed by Kill Shot, Transfer of Power, The Third Option, Separation of Power, Executive Power, Memorial Day, Consent to Kill, Act of Treason, Protect and Defend, Extreme Measures, Pursuit of Honor, The Last Man, The Survivor, Order to Kill, Enemy of the State, and Red War. American Assassin was released as a major film in 2017.Kyle Mills is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of nineteen political thrillers, including Red War for Vince Flynn and The Patriot Attack for Robert Ludlum. He initially found inspiration from his father, the former director of Interpol, and still draws on his contacts in the intelligence community to give his books such realism. Avid outdoor athletes, he and his wife have lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for over twenty years. Visit his website at KyleMills.com.
When Russian president Maxim Krupin discovers that he has inoperable brain cancer, he’s determined to cling to power. His first task is to kill or imprison any of his countrymen who can threaten him. Soon, though, his illness becomes serious enough to require a more dramatic diversion—war with the West.
Upon learning of Krupin’s condition, CIA director Irene Kennedy understands that the US is facing an opponent who has nothing to lose. The only way to avoid a confrontation that could leave millions dead is to send Mitch Rapp to Russia under impossibly dangerous orders. With the Kremlin’s entire security apparatus hunting him, he must find and kill a man many have deemed the most powerful in the world.
Success means averting a war that could consume all of Europe. But if his mission is discovered, Rapp will plunge Russia and America into a conflict that neither will survive in “a timely, explosive novel that shows yet again why Mitch Rapp is the best hero the thriller genre has to offer” (The Real Book Spy).
Not a Mitch Rapp Novel First and foremost, this isn't a Mitch Rapp novel. It is a Russian bad guy novel that has Mitch Rapp as a minor character. There is none of the classic Rapp personality, no Rapp character development, almost none of the classic dialog with Irene and Mitch. One example of the Rapp persona being way off is in his conversation with his girlfriend's daughter. Mitch sees her walking home, she mentions working on a horse stall, and in Mitch's inner dialog he says "she'd been wearing him down on this horse crap since she moved in." No shot classic Rapp has that inner dialog when thinking about a child. Complete swing and miss there. The plot line seems like a pretty poor copy of Spymaster by Brad Thor. The Mills books in the Rapp series have seemed to be very uneven in an alternating pattern. I thought the first one was pretty good, the second really bad, the third installment was pretty good, and this one just totally missed the mark in my opinion.Rapp rides again! Vince Flynn was a friend of mine, at the news of his death, I thought Mitch Rapp had died with him. Whenever I would picture Mitch Rapp in my minds eye, I saw Vince. Then in came Kyle Mills to take up the banner of the Rapp franchise. With out a doubt this is my favorite of all Kyle’s books although I have enjoyed all of them. Taken right from today’s headlines, Kyle shows the same uncanny cache of inside information Vince was famous for. A great read for the long Minnesota winter ahead! Thanks Kyle Mills for Giving Life to Mitch Rapp Kyle Mills has done a great job in carrying on the cast of characters created by Vince Flynn. He has captured the personalities and essence of each character. Mitch Rapp has become one of my all time favorite characters. I am grateful to Kyle for allowing Mitch to survive and prosper in the wake of Vince’s tragic passing. This book is fast paced and action packed. I loved it , as I do all of the books in this series. It seems to me that there should be a blockbuster movie series here. I haven’t seen American Assassin yet but reviews are not encouraging. The right actors could turn this into a series that is reminiscent of the James Bond series. Well done, Kyle! I look forward to the next in the series.
