Title: Into the Wild Pdf

In April 1992 a young man from a well-to-do family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley. His name was Christopher Johnson McCandless. He had given $25,000 in savings to charity, abandoned his car and most of his possessions, burned all the cash in his wallet, and invented a new life for himself. Four months later, his decomposed body was found by a moose hunter....

Childhood favorite These were some of my daughter's favorite books when she was young, and she recommended them to all her friends.. She made me buy each new one in hardback the moment they came out, which wasn't cheap. She hung on to them for ages, until parting with them as a young adult. When I saw this series was on the Kindle and on sale, I had to buy them for nostalgia's sake and for her to read again. I will reading them myself at some point.Compelling, Heartbreaking: A Modern Watership Down I can't believe I'm sitting here writing a review on a book about cats, but after finishing this six-part series, I felt compelled to share my thoughts, as I couldn't get enough.Erin Hunter has managed to create a compelling world with richly-detailed characters and fleshed out plots that fill every emotion- happiness, sadness, loyalty, diversity, mourning, grief, revenge, and friendship.Despite being children's fiction, the themes and stories have many adult elements for reader's of all ages (I'm a thirty year old guy who unabashedly loves his pets) with a story on the level of Watership Down. You become passionate about the characters and their tribulations, and are heartbroken by the not infrequent deaths from warring clans or nature.I bought this book as light bedtime reading, and quickly purchased the remaining five. I honestly couldn't put it down and if you're looking at this, I'm confident you won't be able to either. Now that it's over, I'm so happy that I've got about 20 other books in the series to read.Great Biography This book gave a great insight of the path Chris McCandless's troubled life took.I watched the movie "Into The Wild" a few years back and have always been curious and saddened to think about Chris's journey. This book seemed to clear the story a bit. Sometimes I had a lump in my throat thinking that this is not a "character" in a made up story but a real life that seemed to yearn for a peace that only existed in his heart. Jon Krakauer does a great job of giving us a key hole view of "Alex's" life. The good times even when he had nothing. I personally feel like unfortunately Chris was a troubled individual weather it was mental imbalance or emotional disconnect and after this book I feel so sad for his torment. The movie left me disliking his parents, but this book turned that emotion completely around. And I loved the Epilogue. Thank you Jon Krakauer for that. If the movie intrigued you most definitely read the book.

Easy read & insightful I read the book in less than 3 days. Very helpful in picking your words and tone of voice when talking to friends, family or significant other during disagreements. Easy read. I'd buy it as a gift for high school level teens. It's a great way to initiate problem solving skills.More Buddhism than communicating Although the author says you don't have to be Buddhist to understand this book,I'm sure it would help. I had to read several passages multiple times to get the point of what Hanh was telling me.That said, a lot of the principles presented here would probably help people communicate more effectively. I'm planning to try them to see.A worthwhile read As I write this, Thich Nhat Hanh has just experienced a major cerebral hemorrhage. Knowing this makes me very mindful of his immeasurable gifts to humankind. This book is one of them. I will be surprised if I ever consider one of his books not worth wording, but this deserve to go to the top of your to-read list.

Becoming Pdf

ISBN: B07B3W4Q47
Title: Becoming Pdf

An intimate, powerful, and inspiring memoir by the former First Lady of the United States.

In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America - the first African American to serve in that role - she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the United States and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments. Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare.

In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites listeners into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her - from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work to her time spent at the world's most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it - in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations - and whose story inspires us to do the same.

LOL Sister bought for me. I would not have paid $1.Great Read!! I read a lot of negative reviews, but I don’t understand why. I enjoyed reading her story from her perspective. Some parts made me sad; however, I’ll always view Michelle Obama as a role model. The World’s First Lady I believe I always loved Michelle Obama. Her grace and dignity always seemed to come as a gift from above. Her spirit is so incredibly deep and strong. The stories from her childhood, her brother, her neighborhood, her family, inform us in a brilliant voice about what it was like in the place and time she grew up.Michelle Obama has the empathy and the depth of character so missing in her media portrayal. I always felt worried that we were suffocating her. But there is a Michelle Obama who is bigger than the words on a page. She knows our pains, and she understands our lives. And we know her in this book. In this most private book, we know her in a way we could not have otherwise. Interesting that nothing here surprises me, it only affirms what I felt like I know: Michelle Obama is a person like us. She worked and suffered and overcame. Her storytelling skills are exquisite. It left me a little breathless to hear her voice, unfettered and real.I love the photographs.
